Given a story with information/ data, write a ratio from the desired relationship of two numbers. Simplifying the ratio to a Simplified Fraction.

writing a ratio writing a ratio is just finding a relationship of two numbers and setting it up as a ratio AKA a fraction it's about reading and looking what it asked for to make your relationship Lexa right here so we have a story right here you're lonely cousin has a lot of animals for pets you count six dogs for snakes two frogs eat lizards and the rabbit what is the ratio of dogs to all the cold-blooded creatures you're lonely cousin has as pets so this last statement right here this question it tells you what to make your relationship your ratio out of so we're looking at what is the ratio of dogs to all the cold-blooded creatures you're lonely cousin has a that's so versus look for what we want first it's dogs here let's just write that down we're looking for a ratio of dogs to cold-blooded creatures Zyzz so we look right here let's go to the storage that you counted six dogs so what are numerator we have six for our denominator denominator is cold-blooded creatures know where here is the word cold-blooded creatures besides right here where it asked all the cold-blooded creatures right here is Alexa thing it's a reading thing what are cold-blooded creatures he had to know a little bit about these things so cold-blooded creatures another way would be saying reptiles what are reptiles right here a dog is not a reptile snake cats cats are not reptiles frogs frogs are reptiles we have two of those that eight lizards those are reptiles and a rabbit that's not a reptile so the reptiles snakes frogs and lizards so it's dogs the number of dogs to leave this right what is the ratio of dogs are pretty much what are all the Ducks to all the cold-blooded creature so you have to go back and be careful that don't miss any of these so we got snakes got frogs we got lizards for snakes to frogs eat lizards for snakes true frogs 8 lizards what was I'm doing it off to the side not putting right here I don't want to confuse Myself by writing all this stuff right here I'm just I'm off to the side so if he has seen all the cold-blooded creatures were looking for the total amount of 4 + 6 + 8 14 cold-blooded creatures so let's put that right here we got 14 of those so there it is dogs the cold-blooded creatures 6 to 14 but as a requirement unsaid rule all ratio should always be simplified so here's our work our work so far is counting up show your work no work no credit right here we found out that's how we got the 14th we added at the snakes frogs and lizards that's 14 there's work right here now we came up with this fraction this ratio but we always need to simplify our ratios 6 14 6 to 14 both of these have a common factor of two that we can divide by if you looked at the other video about making equivalent fractions or simplifying a fraction we / A1 but in this case we're dividing by one made up of factors of 2 2 / 2 is 1 / 1 does not change the value of the ratio it just changes the way it looks it's so what is the ratio 6 cuz they're both even 2 / 2 6 / 2 314 / 2 7 cor simplest ratio dogs are cold-blooded creatures for every 3 dogs there are seven cold-blooded creatures so writing a ratio might sound simple but you got to make sure to read carefully so we are only looking at dogs and cold-blooded creatures we didn't use the cats we did not use the one rabbit so we don't always use everything but make sure to read what it looks for so always if we got a story asking you to write a ratio look at the last statements question right here's a question what is the ratio of and that's going to tell you what you're making what relationship of the numbers over each other when looking at dogs to blank to and the next thing is pretty much cold-blooded creatures so we had to do the work for that so this is all our work to find a ratio of dogs to cold-blooded creatures make sure you read the question read it carefully looks simple make sure you choose the right numbers to plug in and then simplify
