so let's say this is this our lesson 2 same concept so everything all that so the class work we got examples exercises soap we're always going to do together exercises you're going to try on your own and then we'll go to get do it together and then so you could correct your work keep on doing the same concept right here and then this right here your has your classwork / homework this is the only thing you really need to do on your own but since we're doing it in in like a breakout rooms do it together so this right here forgot sorry so this right here is the only thing you really need to try and do in her own but like I said you could work in partners and what not and breakout groups all right so we're always got a lesson summary anything before consider this like notebook notebook we are doing this pretty much together even the ones you do it first and then we go over together give her asking anything that you guys in to clarify just let me know let me go find why are we finishing class or early how is it early looks like you only got seven. could get that done super quick so let's go to this right here 1 through 7 I'll go through a couple these to make sure if you guys got specific one you want to go over I'll do that but I'm going to choose a random one here I'm going to do a quick review of this lesson 1 what I wanted from you or what I expected of you so this right here will start with one so I did a b or AMC but I'm going to be in a second cuz I haven't done that one so my number one goal for you guys the very least was to know how to write a ratio write a ratio I know there were three different ways to write a ratio yes I said they're made it look like there's four but it depends on how you write it we all got different handwriting so the last was pretty much the same but the three so A to B that's one to be back to the third one but use a different color even though I always is up and mess you guys up and say It's A over B R right when we're saying it as a ratio with a to be even though it looks like a fraction a over B is a to B so these are the three ways if you had a typewriter if you had a keyboard and go a backslash be but remember this backslash we don't have this underlined this fraction line that's unless you have money so special witches I don't know the special hotkeys for that so these are the three ways to write a fraction ever going to do see first so we can find each rate and unit rate be so first write it as a ratio you can write it like this you can write it like that but to do work to find rate and unit rate this is always the best one to show if you want to do something with your ratio work soci for reading meters alright 40 Sears in 16 seconds so this is your a that you're being if it doesn't have a sentence describing these things just go left to right the first thing is RA the second thing is your B A equals 40 meters M lowercase m stands for meters b equals 16 seconds SEC is short for seconds so technically all you can do is 40 over 16 second that is your ratio but we want the rate I'm going to do a mini lesson video of it and post it up pretty much understanding what is and why but all you have to do is divide to find the rate all you do is divide cuz when you divide by 16 you get rid of the 16 alright 40 / 16 16 / 16 here I'll write it out 16 / 16 we end up with one in rate you're always looking for what one is on the bottom your denominator how many meters in one second that's the rate so 16 / 16 gets us one what's 40 / 16 I don't have that off the top of my head I'm going to cheat and use a calculator and imma show you the world on a test quiz we can't use the calculator I'll show you the wrong way in a second I just got to show you what it does so 40 / 2.5 Sol 2.5 meters per second 2.5 m in one second that's the rate that unit rate is just the numerator of top 2.5 pretty quick with a calculator but without that how much is this 40 / 16 a division problem this is called an algorithm / be so here's another way to think about all of this distinctly is the fourth way but it's this written like that so A / B is always top / the bottom number the algorithm is this numbers always on the inside number bottom numbers always in the front so 40 / 16 I'm going to show you I'm not going to do that I don't want to think about how many sixteenths are in 40 opening equal for a second the second thing I wanted you guys to know this is the first main thing how to write a ratio the second thing I wanted from you guys is to know how to say find ratio meaning make an equal simple version of a ratio so do that off to the side we're simplifying a ratio 40 / 16 2 simplify ratio is just like simplifying a fraction you divide the top and the bottom by the same number notice 16 doesn't divide evenly give me a number that you can divide into both 14 and 16 you can add a chat or where I find let's go to we get 40 / 22016 / 2/8 owl lipstick equivalent fractions down here so we found a fraction equivalent ratios correction so one way to find equivalent ratios if you have a ratio that can be simplified all you got to do is divide out the same number so 40 / 16 equals 20 / 8 set up here but here's the thing are we done can we do some more what else do we divide by 20 + 8 what do we divide by all right that's another one so let's / 4 20 / 4 is 5/8 / 4 is to go anymore is there a number that goes into 5 and 2 no no no good so this right here 5 / 2 is the simplest simplest meme simplest means you can't get any more evenly this is as far as it goes so 8 is a simple version but not the simplest so all three of these are equivalent ratios here's another way to find equivalent ratios once you find your simplest ratio you can multiply any number to this to find another equivalent ratio give me a someone give me a number to x 7 * 7 top end 5 * 7 35 to x 7 14 so ways to find equivalent ratios if you got something that's bigger keep on dividing each one of these each one of the results is an equivalent ratio when you can't go any further that's the simplest if you have the simplest you can multiply so and you can multiply by any number you want so that means you get have an infinite amount of equal ratios equivalent ratios and now one last note before I go back to this this is how we do. This is a nice way of explaining why all of these are equal for all of this I * 7 and got this I multiply this by 4 I get this I multiply this by 8 I get that all of these are equal cuz whatever we X has to be the same number the same number over the same number that has a value of 1 and think about this anything * 1 is that anything 5/2 * 1 is 5/2 but because we made the one out of seven it just looks different equivalent means they're the same but they look different it's like an English words have the same meaning but are different words are called synonyms so we multiply anything by 1 especially if it's a fraction equals itself but when it's a fraction we just make a different looking for that's equal to the original or the simplest are so back to this now we got our simplest ratio so 40/16 we know is 5/2 instead of writing this I could do this remember the top is on the inside which one would you rather do orange or green that's a rhetorical question obviously the green cuz it's simpler numbers how many twos are in 5 one person typing thank you very quick to if you want to just type in and said unmute yourself perfectly fine that's for we subtract we get one but no remainders right here you got to remember to put in a decimal what is there a placeholder bring down the zero how many twos are in 10552 * 5 is 10 now we have as a remainder or answer is 5 what is 40 / 16 2.5 that was one so that is the pretty much everything that you needed number one go let's do a quick review number one goal I need you guys to know how to write a ratio in reader a show at the divided by 6 is 7 decimal 16 / 6 is some decimal numbers that you divide even no remainders good question good question so with that those numbers you can do 4 40 / 4 is 1016 / 4 is 4 we would have got 10 over for yes you could have done that anything that divides without a decimal and lazy with no remainder that's what you could use question so right here we / 2 we didn't have to go all the way here as long as you get to a point where you could divide nicely watch we didn't have to go here but it's always best to go here cuz it makes it easier I could do here to it goes in a 20 2 * that's 8 * 2 is 16 subtract I get for that's a remainder let's bring down a decimal it goes on find 2.5 no matter what, tell you if you actually did this way you would still get 2.5 let's do the other one just to show all of this stuff 40 / 60 you asked if we could we have done for ya that was a great question all right cuz I want to get confused 40 / 410 16 / 4 4 equipment I could put that down right here 10/4 equal ratios that's how you find all of these equal ratios multiply or divide so let's look at this list divide now top is always on the inside bottom how many fours are in 10 to 4 times 280 subtract we get to bring down the zero how many fours are in 25 all of these totally work it's whichever one is easiest for you me I always try to say people get in the habit of trying to make it the simplest but you didn't technically didn't me to these right just enough to do our division and then right when you divide rate is there rate and the unit rate is just the top number so find race easiest thing to do if you can if you're doing homework and you're lazy I know most of you are rate equals a / B and then how do you write rate it's just whatever that number is over one of that unit further and more advanced you're going to come it's for now it's too but when we get more advanced than or more you can compare three or four ratios butt comparison more ratios and here's another part of it is Pro portion when ratios are equivalent equivalent all right my handwriting all right so we're going to do that ratios remember how to read it all right one thing I'm going to give you I'm food that we checked all the ratios are equivalent this is actually easier if you find a rule and all things that are proportional follow the same rule this equation y equals X and then what is k x chapter or two along but all you do is this k equals why 2 X or Y / X notice this right here is that like a ratio I need to be up top on the bottom this right here is where most people mess up and get are easy what's 4 210 / 2/5 what's 2 * 245 * 210 equal but what do I multiply to do that I'm going to cheat right now you later so / 5 top / the bottom point for numerator divided by denominator 4 /
