A little about me...
I am very honored to be part of the OMI community! I'm on the faculty as an in-house substitute. I am a retired educator and military officer.
My life passions have been to serve my country and serve our youth, hence my two professions as a teacher and Army Reserve Army National Guard officer. Now having retired from San Francisco Unified School district and from the National Guard, I looked at OMI as a place to continue these passions first as a volunteer mentor, substituting at OMI and as a volunteer for other OMI and California Cadet Corps (CACC) activities. I am a Lieutenant Colonel, USA (RETIRED) in also hold the grade in the California State Guard (Youth and Community Programs) and as a California Cadet Corps adult leader. My position in the CACC is 4th Brigade Special Projects Officer. (4th Brigade is OMI) I am active in many of the state Cadet Corps activities.
I volunteer for other cadet organizations such as Civil Air Patrol and Naval Sea Cadets. I am also a Coast Guard Auxiliary member and a Coast Guard Academy Admissions Partner (volunteer support to CG Academy Admissions Office where I represent the Academy at College Fairs and other events and interview/give information to applicants/candidates.) I support the Coast Guard mentoring program with Base Alameda, Coast Guard Island. I have been active in Toastmasters for many years. I enjoy developing my public speaking, leadership and communication skills and mentoring our cadets in developing theirs.
I encourage any cadets and their families to contact me for any guidance, mentoring or tutoring in academics, leadership, college or career interests.
