Valmiria Amaya

Valmiria Paulo Amaya lives in Oakland, graduated in Spanish Language Letters from the Federal University of Paraiba (UFPB), certified by the California Commission of Teachers, and currently engaged in a Spanish and Spanish-American Literature Master’s degree program by UNIBA (Universidad de Barcelona). She has been teaching Spanish as a second language and Spanish-American literature for more than 5 years.

 

During the Spanish course at OMI, students will learn about historical, geographical and literary development present in the Spanish culture speakers. This program also focuses on progressing the four educational skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking developed by each student. In addition, the course aims to respond to the needs and demands of multicultural society present in the United Sates and especially in the Bay Area. The class’s objectives will allow students to participate with interactive games, quizzes, movies and different types of textual genres.
