The Oakland Military Institute (OMI) provides special education services to students who have Individualized Education Program (IEP). OMI utilizes an inclusive model where specialized academic instruction occurs in the general education classroom. Our students are in Grades 6 to 12. OMI does not have a Special Day Class (SDC) or a Counseling Enriched Classroom (CEC). OMI’s special education services include:
Students with IEPs undergo reevaluations as required in the IEP. Students who are referred for special education consideration receive initial evaluations.
OMI has highly qualified special education staff, who are serving students with mild/moderate disabilities. The Special Education Department at OMI is comprised of:

The Special Education team provides on-going professional development. The general education and military staff at OMI are trained by the Special Education Team on accommodations, modifications, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPS).
