Fall Registration Letter

 Hello OMI Families,


The 2018-2019 school year coming quick. It is time to re register and prepare for orientation. We have included important information regarding the school meals, registration deadline, and orientation dates.


School Meals


We are pleased to inform you that The Oakland Military Institute will be implementing a new option for the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for 2018-2019 School Year. Schools that participate in the CEP are able to provide healthy breakfasts and lunches each day at no charge for all students enrolled in that CEP school during the 2018-2019 School Year. All OMI students may be served one lunch and one breakfast at no charge. Second meals are available but they will be served for full price $2.75 for breakfast and $3.75 for lunch.


How do I add money/make a payment to my child’s account?

You can continue to send cash to the front office with your child or you can add money in Family Portal for Titank12: https://www.oakmil.org/apps/pages/mealaccount.


Is there a fee or service charge for making online payments?

A convenience fee may be charged for each online payment transaction. For example, if you make a $20.00 payment and the convenience fee is $2.50, the total debited from your credit card is $22.50. The available funds for your child will be $20.00.


Family Income Survey


We have added a new section to data confirmation the Family Income Survey. In January, Governor Jerry Brown introduced a proposal to fix the way we fund schools in California. The plan is called “Local Control Funding Formula” or “LCFF.” It shifts California’s way of funding schools to a simpler “need-based” education funding formula for students.


The Governor’s plan does the following:

  1. Increases funding for all districts with additional resources for low-income and English Language Learners.
  2. Removes bureaucratic red tape that bogs down money sent to local school districts.
  3. Increases Local Control, giving local school districts more options on how to best use funds.


With more funding targeted at high-need learners, schools districts can spend money on what matters, such as:

  • Provide safe, supportive school environments by investing in counselors, targeted instructional and behavioral supports, and drop-out prevention programs.
  • Prepare all teachers and students for the demands of the Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards.
  • Offer all high school students a wide array of college and career preparatory options, including a-g coursework and meaningful workplace experiences.
  • The Local Control Funding Formula will provide school districts with additional dollars to help them educate low-income students, English learners, and students in foster care.


So what can you do to help? Our school has a limited time to gather the information needed to ensure that all eligible children are included in the count on the fall census day, the first Wednesday in October. The Family Income Survey is extremely important to your child’s school receiving the appropriate funding based on the information you provide. Please log in to the portal and complete the Family Income Survey through data confirmation.


Data Confirmation (Registration) - Due Date: Tuesday, July 31st


  1. Create an Aeries Parent Portal Account or log in to your existing account.
  • You will need the following items to create an account. CLICK HERE to request

  • Do you need to reset your password?

 2. Complete Online Registration/Data Confirmation through the Aeries Parent Portal for all students who attend OMI within your household

  • Your family may have completed the data confirmation in March however, we have added the Family Income Survey as of July 1st. Please log in to the portal and complete the Family Income Survey

Orientation - To avoid a long wait at orientation please complete the data confirmation by July 31st.


Orientation is scheduled for 2 -3 August (Thursday and Friday). There are two sessions held each day. In order to attend orientation, please ensure that data confirmation (registration) is complete. The uniform is the complete OMI PT uniform – wear and appearance standards apply during inspection by your TAC Teams. Students must pass inspection in order to attend their session.


Sessions have been assigned based on your student’s Fall Entrance status:


  • Session 1 is for all pledges new to the campus. Report time is 7:30 AM Thursday, August 2nd
  • Session 2 is for 7th and 8th graders with a report time of 12:30 PM Thursday, August 2nd
  • Session 3 is for 9th , 10th , and 11th graders with a report time of 7:30 AM Friday, August 3rd
  • Session 4 is dedicated to our 12th graders only with a report time of 12:30 PM Friday, August 3rd
