Hello My name is  Coach Ayodele Mims. I have been the Athletic Director here at Oakland Military Institute since June 2017. I am a native of Brooklyn, New York. I have a Bachelor's and Masters degrees in Kinesiology from Grambling State University in Louisiana. I've been an educator for 8 years( 7 of them in California ) at both Middle and High school levels. I've experienced great success while coaching Basketball as well as football in the Bay Area. I am a lifelong advocate of young people and the power that Athletics has to impart life lessons. My personal motto is "It can be done is good, Is done is better!"

I want to recognize our Boys Basketball team for their resounding 75-15 win yesterday vs. San Francisco Int’l High School .They continue their 3 day tournament in San Francisco today at 6:30 PM at Lick- Wilmerding Basketball Gym. Here are some photos from yesterday’s action .
The OMI Community would like to state how proud we are of OMI Cadet Reyna Ho. She was honored this morning during formation for her Cross Country Track achievements. Reyna is the ONLY OMI cadet to reach State Finalist status in any sport. Her banner will be placed in Regimental hall soon. Good job Reyna keep up the excellent work!!!

Girls Volleyball Season Opener!!

OMI Girls Volleyball has its first game today against Salesian High School in Richmond, Ca at 4:00. The address is 2851 Salesian Ave.

OMI Soccer team fell to College Prep 6-1 on Friday

 Unfortunately our boys Soccer team started the 2017 season off with a 6-1 loss at College Prep last Friday 8/25/17. They play today at 3:30 at Coast Guard Island against The Bentley School.

OMI Football starts new era with 26-0 victory!

      In their very first ever  high school football contest, the Oakland Military Institute Grizzlies shocked Hercules High School Titans on their home field in Hercules, California. The very first play of the game was an 80 yard kickoff touchdown by #5 Titan Goss-Davis. OMI won the game on the road 26-0, and put on a show for staff and students in attendance. Well done Grizzlies, extremely impressive start to the new era of OMI Football.
