About this Event
The OMI Jazz Band is an eclectic group of students that have a deep passion for music. Their curiosity has allowed then to study great musicians such as Stevie Wonder, Chick Corea, and Miles Davis. The OMI Jazz Band is a passionate group of students that meet every day. Students in the Jazz Band include Justice McCreary, Danny Nguyen on Drums/Percussion. Mason Sam, Gerardo Navidad-Santos, and Jason Lau on Saxophone. Thomas Chau and Andres Ortiz on Trombone. Adam Macias, Brian Pineda, Christian Morales, Tigana Cisse, and Tavares Marshall on Trumpet. Mark Feemster and MJ Holloway on Baritone. Escher Pearce, Alvaro Esquivel, and Kevin Isidor-Abarca on Bass/Tuba. Each student has pushed beyond the limit and has taken their musicianship to another level.
At the Forum Music Competition last year, the OMI Jazz Band placed in the top 20% against schools from across the entire nation! Students have also performed around the bay area in places such as “Open House for AB&I,” Latino Heritage Assembly at Coast Guard Island, and Governor Jerry Brown at the Governor’s Luncheon in Oakland.
