Course Description

Syllabus
 

In Spanish 1, students will enhance creativity, community building, nurturing, safe sharing and how respect equals harmony. The student will learn how the Spanish language and culture have influenced their personal environment here in the Bay Area. 

In all activities, students will create space for self-expression and creative exploration.

Students will read and analyze different cultures and countries in Latin American.

The class’s objectives will allow students to participate in interactive games and activities.

The activities will help to develop a deeper appreciation for and connection with Spanish

Culture, and will include engagement with their families and communities as well.

Anticipated outcomes include the strengthening of critical thinking ability, a sense of sharing,

trust building, and improved command of the Spanish language.

Throughout this class, students will improve their skills in reading, writing, conversational, and listening in Spanish.

Level 1 Spanish class will cover: Spanish greetings, alphabet, numbers and simple arithmetic, telling the time, family, routine and reflexive verbs, Latin American Culture, adjective and descriptions, like and dislikes, ser and estar, reading and comprehension, verb tenses, infinitive verbs and conjugation of regular and irregular verbs.

 

Goal

Student will be able to write and present on the Latin American countries in Spanish, sentences describing family, community and time with friends. Students will learn the grammar context they need to use.  

 

Student will develop a character in Spanish as their final project.

 

Students in class are expected to put forth a significant amount of academic effort of class in order to be successful.

Notes: We will do note almost every day. It is important to keep your note organized as they will help you with your homework and studying for quizzes and test.

 

Grade: I do not give grades. You earn your grade. All homework, quizzes, test, class assignments and performing task assigned point totals.

 

Sumitive 70%

Formative 20%

 

Homework: No late work will be accepted. Please check board x to know when assignments are due.

 

Absence:  If your absence is justify, any work that is due on the day of the absence must be turn in on the first day back to class.  However if presentation is part of your homework, you will need to make the presentation to me, during your lunch or after school.

 

Cheating/ Plagiarism: It is not tolerance for cheating and plagiarism.

 

Behavior: The expectation of behavior in the class includes all policies and procedures are explained in the students hand book and posted it in the classroom. Disruptive behavior is disrespectful to you, class in the teacher and will result in disciplinary action.

 

 

1st homework assignment: You are to take this home and have your parent/parents/guardian sign on the line saying that they have gone through this syllabus with you. You are going to sign on the line saying that you understand and will try the best of your ability to fallow the guidelines.
