Update 5/08/2020

While we know this has been a difficult time with everything constantly changing due to COVID-19, we want to celebrate the class of 2020 as best we can under the circumstances. OMI knows that this is a milestone in students’ lives and we are proud of the hard work and accomplishments that you have made. Below you will find detailed descriptions about the end of the year celebrations for the class of 2020.Enter your text here...

Graduation: Graduation will happen on Saturday May 30, 2020 at 10:00 via zoom. It will include a full program with student speeches, announcing student names, a keynote address from OMI founder and former Governor, and a keepsake paper graduation program. Our plan is to make this graduation ceremony as memorable and as special as possible.

Graduation Materials: On Wednesday May 27th, 2020 between the hours of 9:00 am -12:00 pm, 12th grade students will be able to pick up their cap and gown, and all other graduation materials, including a special graduation box gift from the school. In order to pick up their graduation materials students will need to bring and return all OMI materials to include but not limited to chromebooks, textbooks, Class A jacket, uniforms, etc. For students who ordered year books, the yearbook company has informed OMI that the yearbooks will not ship until the 1st week of June, and students will have to receive them at a later date.

Graduation Drive by Parade: On Friday May 29th at 12:00 OMI will be hosting a drive-by parade for the 12th grade students. We would like students and families to decorate your vehicles and come drive around the campus in their caps and gowns while the school staff celebrate their commencement (social distancing of course)

Grad Night: Unfortunately, grad night was cancelled by the Vendor. Mr. Lee is working on preparing refunds for grad night.

Prom: Unfortunately, Prom was cancelled as well. We are looking into the possibility of hosting a prom dance for the class of 2020, in December of 2020. More information will be forthcoming.

Live Graduation: OMI is planning to host a live graduation for the class of 2020 in December 2020. Our thought process is that if students are allowed to travel to their colleges and universities for the fall semester, they will be home potentially for Winter break, and an in- person graduation ceremony can be held. More information will b
e forthcoming.

Scholarships: Yes, OMI will be able to continue to honor the scholarship program as in past years. We will be able to honor the $200 a year for every year a student has attended OMI. We will send out a separate communication in the next week specifically about accessing the scholarship program.

Lastly, please check the website oakmil.org starting next week as we will be posting special 12th grade celebrations on the website.

Thank you for your patience with us, we held out hope that we would be able to return to live celebrations and upon confirming this was not possible, we wanted to be extremely thoughtful about celebrating the class of 2020. We are excited to celebrate the Class of 2020 and are so very proud of each of you! We look forward to your next phase of life.
