School Site Council (SSC)

The Oakland Military Institute School Site Council (SSC) is an elected body of parents, teachers and classified staff that work with and advise school administration on programs, activities and expenditures at the school. In particular, the SSC is responsible for overseeing the budgets of categorical programs, such as Title I. After looking at the big picture of the school’s progress, the council and school administration create a plan for improvement, with the goal of closing gaps in achievement between groups of students. Toward this end, the SSC reviews and approves the Single Plan for Student Achievement. The council also monitors progress toward achieving that plan and recommending revisions as appropriate. Voting members are elected by their peers: parent representatives are elected by the parents; teacher representatives are elected by the teachers. The SSC usually meets once a month at 8:30am on a Thursday.
