M. Basnage's Bio
Over the past 30+ years, Mark Basnage’s education work has engaged him in a wide variety of public, private, and charter schools. Mark's deep administrative experience in schools is matched by his depth of commitment to creating pathways of opportunity for underrepresented students. Some of his former Oakland students have moved into interesting careers at places such as Apple, Cisco, and many innovative startups.
Mark has received fellowships from the Orion Society and The Fulbright Memorial Fund, and was among the first recipients of Philadelphia’s Great Friends To Kids award in 2006.
After an undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, he attained his masters degree from Stanford in Learning, Technology, and Design, where he was an early and active part of Stanford’s innovative Hasso Plattner Institute of Design ("d.school") community.
