Overview

Founded in 2004, the Cadet Activities Board (CAB) is instrumental in all cadet activities. Cadet representatives from all grades, will be led by an elected council of HS and MS cadets to sponsor various spirit events, social activities and fundraisers for the entire student body. The activities board will give the opportunity for cadets to become CAB Card holders for a fee. This membership entitles the holder to special privileges, discounts and free rewards. CAB plans school dances, prom, spirit/morale activities, and performs other functions as necessary. Cadets are elected onto CAB either as a member of the CAB Council, or their respective graduating class's, Class Committee. All cadets on CAB are expected to adhere to the following at all times:
 
  • Present at all CAB meetings/trainings
  • Maintains all OMI standards
  • Maintains a 3.0 GPA with no failing grades
  • Attends 80% of all CAB Events 
  • Set up events such as dances, Fall Fest, lunchtimes activities etc
  • Help with school-wide events (orientation, Small and Tall, CAB Movie Nights, OMI BBQs, Fall Fest etc) by running games, decorating, set up cleaning up, and any other assigned tasks
  • Dress up for all dress-up days 
  • Represent their class and the Grizzly Community as a whole 
  • Attends all classes on time and daily 
  • Participate in and complete all class assignments 
  • Make posters and help with publicity 
  • Work well with all members of the OMI Community 
  • Start and maintain an informational binder for incoming elected committee members 
  • Be prepared for weekend and evening commitments 
  • Other commitments as deemed necessary by CAB Coordinator and the CAB Committee


Position Break Down
 
CAB consists of two levels of leadership; the CAB Council and the Class Committees. The following are descriptions of the available positions: 
 
President: Present, and leads, all CAB Meetings/trainings, briefs the Cadet Activities Board Coordinator about all concerns from cadets, briefs the Board of Directors once a month about all Cadet Activities with the REG Commander, meets with REG CDR weekly regarding all cadet activities, ensures all cadet activities are pushed down to the lowest level, maintains all OMI standards, maintains at least a 3.0 GPA with no failing grades, attends 90% of all CAB Events, must be an upperclassman, works with the CAB Coordinator for planning future events, emails OMI Community when applicable, and assists with alumni affairs.

 

Vice President: Present at all CAB meetings/trainings, ensures all CAB Council Cadets are present, fills in for the CAB President when applicable, attends all board meetings with the CAB President, supports all CAB events, maintains all OMI standards, maintains a 3.0 GPA with no failing grades, attends 90% of all CAB Events, must be an upperclassman, emails OMI Community when applicable.

 

Secretary: Present at all CAB meetings/trainings, records important information during CAB Meetings, emails meeting notes to all members of the CAB Council by 11:59pm that evening, emails OMI Community when applicable, maintains all OMI standards, maintains a 3.0 GPA with no failing grades, attends 90% of all CAB Events.

 

Public Affairs: Present at all CAB meetings/trainings, maintains the CAB Website Link, “Upcoming Events”, “Coming Soon” bulletin boards, creates all cadet activities flyers, ensures all CAB Announcements are made daily, decorates all CAB Events, puts up/take down all CAB Flyers in the main hallway, supports all CAB events, maintains all OMI standards, maintains a 3.0 GPA with no failing grades, attends 90% of all CAB Events, emails OMI Community when applicable.

 

Treasurer: Present at all CAB meetings/trainings, maintains all OMI standards, maintains a 3.0 GPA with no failing grades, attends 90% of all CAB Events, briefs the CAB Council the amount of funds during every meeting, counts money at the end of each CAB Event with the CAB Coordinator.

 

Historian: Present at all CAB meetings/trainings, maintains all OMI standards, maintains a 3.0 GPA with no failing grades, attends 90% of all CAB Events, takes pictures of all OMI Events (Fall Fest, PIR, Formation, dances etc), adds to/creates an OMI Photo and video library by year, manages the Book of Traditions, assists with class reunions, assists with alumni affairs.

 

Fundraising: Present at all CAB meetings/trainings, maintains all OMI standards, maintains a 3.0 GPA with no failing grades, attends 90% of all CAB Events, leads all fundraising events, ensures all resources are available prior to all fundraisers, maintains a fundraising spreadsheet. 

 

Sports Commissioner (2): Present at all CAB meetings/trainings, maintains all OMI standards, maintains a 3.0 GPA with no failing grades, attends 90% of all CAB Events and games, set up School-Wide sport related events (Teacher V. Cadets Intramural, CACC Birthday Challenge, and Cadet Olympics etc), publicizes sports and sport related events via email, Instagram, Facebook, Loop, and flyers to raise awareness of athletics, works with the OMI Sports teams with fundraising, cheer on promotion of OMI Watch Parties, communicates with the Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Director around sporting events/games, communicates with Athletic Team Captains and Athletic Director/Assistant Athletic Director about recognition of players at OMI events (formation, Military Ball, etc.), and posts weekly about all sports for the entire school year.

 

Wellness Commissioner: Wellness Commissioner: Present at all CAB meetings, maintains all OMI standards, maintains a 2.5 GPA with no failing grades, attends 90% of all CAB Events, works closely with Cadet Services Wellness Coordinator to oversee wellness initiatives on campus (Challenge Day, Peer Mediators, Monthly Wellness themes etc.), works to plan wellness initiatives and events, collaborates with on-campus media to ensure best practices, promotes positive mental health in a safe and responsible manner, updates/maintains the wellness bulletin board, connect students with wellness resources, ability to maintain confidential information essential to the position.

 

Spirit Commissioner (2): Present at all CAB meetings/trainings, maintains all OMI standards, maintains a 3.0 GPA with no failing grades, attends 90% of all CAB Events, plans all aspects of Fall Fest, Talent Shows, Winter and Spring Sports Rallies (themes, games, staff participants, logistics), announces cadet birthdays, creates other spirit events on the OMI campus and makes sure that the school maintains its level of esprit de corps, works directly with Sports Commissioners on rallies and other sporting events.

 

Middle School Ambassador (2): Present at all CAB meetings/trainings, maintains all OMI standards, maintains a 3.0 GPA with no failing grades, attends 90% of all CAB Events, represents the middle school in all CAB meetings/trainings, works on developing leadership skills in effort to be elected/appointed into a leadership position.
